TSS vs Lead

TSS vs Lead

  • I love TSS, never going back.

  • I like the best load in each gun. I use both.

  • TSS is for people that can’t hunt.

  • Lead Gang for life.

  • Turkey loads of any kind? Nah, I shoot dove loads $25 100 baby!

  • I want to try TSS but I’m poor.

  • I heard every TSS purchase comes with ad space on Bud Light.

  • When I run out of lead, I’ll try it.

  • I prefer to brag about using lead.

  • I use a rifle, I don’t buy tags anyway.

Love TSS never going back.
Have used TSS in 5 guns. Two 410’s, two12ga’s and a 20ga. Used with red dots.
410 single shot and pump- 3” #9
20ga auto- 3” #9
12ga both auto’s-
3” #5,6&7, #7 and #7&9
3 1/2” #7 and #7&9

Tss is the new whammy shell, I wasn’t a believe till I pattered a load and I was impressed but still needed proof on a bird, well 2 birds later I was a believer and a advocate. That 20 gauge has a better pattern and a farther reach, by far, than any 12 gauge load I’ve patterned. And when it hits a bird there is a lot less flopping too.

When I get tired of shooting this ammo box full of different 12 gauge lead shells, I’ll make the permanent switch to TSS. May end up with a dedicated 20 gauge at which point I’ll switch forever.

I’ve shot heavier than lead loads since 2006 or 2007 starting with the Remington Heavy Shot. Since then I’ve used Nitro, Hevi-Shot, Federal Heavy Weight, Heavy Weight TSS, and now Apex TSS. Been using a 20 since 2008 I believe. I’m solidly in the heavier than lead camp. Having said that, the Long Beard loads look very promising. As does a Browning A5 12 gauge with 3.5” TSS :) I guess overall I just like shotguns and turkey loads. Maybe the saying “It’s all good” fits me on this subject.

i bought into that Hevi shot early. Once I realized what a ripoff it was. Some of that stuff was barely heavier than lead I stuck to lead a long time. First apex #9 on the pattern board made me a believer.

LBXR and LBTSS are both awesome. I’d rather give my $ to a small reloader like Verdict though, Kentucky company.

I am reloading TSS now to play with. Honestly those TSS waterfowl loads are only $0.50 more than my cost to load them!!! As soon as I can get a box they are going through a turkey choke.

I told on the old forum, I gave in to TSS a few years back. My brother gave me a little 410 American Tactical and I bought a Savage 320 Turkey. I had lots of pattering issues. It was user error though and I’ve gotten good advice, especially from some on here, on how to better pattern with TSS, so I’m not giving up. Many know I live in Lexington so I can’t just pattern a gun whenever I want. My go to is 3.5 6 shot LBXR and XR Carlson choke in my Benelli. It’s really tight to about 40. Gotta hold steady.

Rip a federal 3.5” tss #9 through that LBXR Carlson. Idk why but mine shoots poi to the LBXR and will put 100 pellets in a 10” circle at 70 yards.

I’m an Apex, Verdict, Salt Creek TSS guy but that buffered load from Federal is nuts in that choke.

I’d say it will. I’ve actually bought Carlson TSS chokes for that 410 and 20 but haven’t tried them yet. When I first tried to pattern, I just used the turkey chokes that came with them. I have some APEX 20s.
