I picked this 660 round spam can this morning, I picked up 540 rounds from same guy last weekend.
I'm buying a few rounds along the way.

I feel like I’ve heard you talk about them before. I’m not familiar with the name. How you like their products?

According to a local gunsmith that has built AR's for years Garnett Floyd
It's the only barrel that he recommends for accuracy.
He's plenty old enough and built enough to know.
I trust his judgements.

So far I like it, but it's just another AR to me.

I’ve never seen an inaccurate 7.62x39 firearm in any platform. .30 cal is just inherently accurate. Some ammos are inconsistent though.

I hunt with 124gr Wolf soft points. They did the best in mine.

soft point is not as easy to find as the FMJ ammo.
I can buy SP online, the cheapest I've found is PPU about 0.70 cents per round plus shipping, unless I buy bulk and get free shipping.

I've hunted with a Model 70 in 7mm Rem Mag for the last 20 plus years, I have probably 20 boxes of ammo for it.
I just don't know if I need any bulk SP ammo for the 7.62x39 just yet.

I split a case with some buddies that hunted with 7.62x39.

My FIL always used hollow points and had amazing success. Getting harder to find nowadays.
The sad thing is....
I had a few thousand rounds of 7.62x39 HP ammo about 3 years ago, It was Tula and Wolf.
I let it all go with a SKS that I thought I no longer needed. I didn't nee the SKS but I sure wish I'd kept the ammo.
I was buying it for 30 cents per round.

Hindsight sure is a humbling experience.
Live and Learn.

The HP ammo is easier to find than sp. that M3 or whatever HP supposedly worked, I’ve never even seen one in person though. The regular HP just won’t expand on a deer or coyote unless you hit bone. Watch a few ballistic gel tests, it’s pitiful.

I still see that Tula 154gr sp regularly, it does pretty good on deer, just drops after 150 or so, It took a spotter to get me on a 10” 300yd plate. I’d rather use the brass PPU SP for the $.

Hornady used to make steel case ballistic tip 7.62x39. It was ok.

Are you talking the open tip stuff, or like a real hollow point?
The ones we were using was like a handgun hollow point. Had a wide mouth on it. Don’t know how well they expand, but he sure dropped a lot of deer with em.
Don’t ever see em anymore.

This was small opening on the tips,
it honestly looked like FMJ with small maybe 1.5mm opening on the tip,
I never shot anything with any of it, I bought in bulk with said SKS.
I think I gave $450 for SKS and ammo.
I've spent $550 on 1200 rounds of FMJ in the last 8 days
$250 for 540 rounds and $300 for 660 round spam can
Averaging $0.46 per round.
