I’ve never seen an inaccurate 7.62x39 firearm in any platform. .30 cal is just inherently accurate. Some ammos are inconsistent though.According to a local gunsmith that has built ARMS for years Garnett Floyd
It's the only barrel that he recommends for accuracy.
He's plenty old enough and built enough to know.
I trust his judgements.
So far I like it, but it's just another AR to me.
soft point is not as easy to find as the FMJ ammo.I’ve never seen an inaccurate 7.62x39 firearm in any platform. .30 cal is just inherently accurate. Some ammos are inconsistent though.
I hunt with 124gr Wolf soft points. They did the best in mine.
I split a case with some buddies that hunted with 7.62x39.soft point is not as easy to find as the FMJ ammo.
I can buy SP online, the cheapest I've found is PPU about 0.70 cents per round plus shipping, unless I buy bulk and get free shipping.
I've hunted with a Model 70 in 7mm Rem Mag for the last 20 plus years, I have probably 20 boxes of ammo for it.
I just don't know if I need any bulk SP ammo for the 7.62x39 just yet.
The sad thing is....My FIL always used hollow points and had amazing success. Getting harder to find nowadays.
Ain’t that the truth!Hindsight sure is a humbling experience.
Live and Learn.
This was small opening on the tips,Are you talking the open tip stuff, or like a real hollow point?
The ones we were using was like a handgun hollow point. Had a wide mouth on it. Don’t know how well they expand, but he sure dropped a lot of deer with em.
Don’t ever see em anymore.
