Last year for OTC Archery Elk tags in CO. Me and a couple buddies from Texas got these two bulls. They was the shooters I was just there as a mule. Got about 100lbs of meat outta the deal though.
The one in the brush wasn’t too bad only about 2 miles and we went down a gulley that had a pretty slow grade down. The one over the log was closer to 5 miles and the first 2 miles we dropped about 2500ft in elevation. Knee killer.
I’ve seen that archery is draw starting this year. Won’t be long rifle will be. My group goes about every year but I’m sitting out this year. Colorado has about priced themselves out with me. Last year elk rag was around $800. That’s crazy price

Yeah that’s why I didn’t get a tag last year. The guys I was with paid over $800 for either sex archery tag. I just went along to camp in the mountains and help pack out if they got something. They put in for the draw this year but I’m on the fence if I go or not. Not a huge fan of the politics out there and the gun bans got me lookin for a new place to hang out out west.
Locals out there tell me the state is being ruined by liberals from the big cities like Denver. The ones I know said a lot from California are moving there and ruining it with their stupid ideas.

Every year it seems they have a new anti gun or anti hunting initiative out there. I got a buddy we elk hunt with that lives out there and it’s crazy the stuff he puts up with to stay there.
